Celebrating Earth Day with a spectacular hat parade.
Since Earth Day was on a Saturday this year, April 22, Rygaards School celebrated the day on April 25. The celebration included a spectacular hat parade, where all the hats were made with recycled materials. The proverb “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure” really rang true in the hat parade. There were hats with candy wrappers, hats with used toilet rolls, hats with paper plates and milk cartons. The children had really outdone themselves when creating these wonderful hats.
Ten winners, whose hats just had that little extra wow factor, received their choice of a butterfly lavender or a flower seed start up kit. They also received all the enthusiasm the students and teachers could muster with a huge round of applause. Thank you to everyone who participated, and congratulations to the winners.
